CHANGING COURSE
Saturday October 1st 5 pm – 10 pm
Quimby Colony 769 Congress St Portland, ME
From the program, Changing Course:
"The Maine Arts Commission is delighted to work in partnership with Artists in Context to highlight artists in Maine working in hybrid practices to address the pressing social issues of our time. This event is the beginning of an attempt to broaden the conversation: to bring artists quite literally to the table with experts outside of the arts to problem solve together. It is our hope that this evening will be rich with exactly that kind of cross fertilization to the benefit of all."
-- Donna McNeil Arts Program and Policy Director Maine Arts Commission
Purpose
Our goal is to use real world work to discuss issues of great complexity, with an eye toward teasing out good questions, and tentative ideas about relevant skillsets and means of collaboration, rather than definitive answers about hybrid practice and the structures its development requires. In its design, this evening’s event reflects Artists in Context’s broad aim of creating and fostering an environment in New England where artists and other creative thinkers and practitioners can find the connections, relevant training, supportive infrastructure and resources required to advance and to deepen their practice.
