The experience of art can contain a revolutionary sense of equality and emancipation as explored by contemporary French thinker Jacques Rancieri. Join artist Taiga Ermansons as she facilitates an "emancipated" collective dialogue about a painting at the Smith College Museum of Art. The 15-minute gallery talk will be followed by a group conversation about Rancieri's essay, The Emancipated Spectator.
The essay, potent theory for educators, artists and spectators, as it appeared in Artforum, is provided here as a pdf.
